The World: Folding Instructions

The World: Folding Instructions

A handmade miniature book of five micro-legends, all written after the October 7th attack, in order to dispel even a bit of the darkness of these days. The World: Folding Instructions is a unique capsule of imagination, ingenuity, and hope. Alex Epstein, the Israeli master of the miniature story, is also the author of One Thousand and One Cranes.

  • Praise for Epstein's work

If you took the short forms and odd structural techniques of Lydia Davis and wedded them to the fantastic impulses of Ray Bradbury, you would get something like these … strange, pliant, elliptical, yet surprisingly tender treatments of angels, rain, lullabies, moons, Zen masters, literature, and time travel. Kevin Brockmeier, The Millions

A consistently provocative collection, best read first in gulps and then in savory sips. Publishers Weekly

There are stories in this collection that can be read over and over again, each reading giving more. Cerebral as well as sensual; grounded in everyday detail as well as philosophical. Annie Clarkson, The Short Review
